The story…

Born in May 2009, OPEN OCEAN MEDIA is an individual Company created by Steve Palier, wind & surfing addict. Plunged in this environment since more than 20 years, this self made man travelled around the World before putting its gained experience at the profit of associations organizing windsurf targeted events.
Close to the public, observer, communicative and sharing his passion, Steve recently decided to go by his own, surrounded by a staff of professional video producers and the best photographers to organize his own events concepts, of which the “Wave Classic Invitational” on the initiative of 2 professional windsurfers, Thomas Traversa and JB Caste. On each contest, OPEN OCEAN MEDIA is in charge of the promotion & communication of the event, supported by partners and local organization for the good installation and the good progress of the contest.

Curriculum…
« Born in 1972 in Normandy, I have discovered windsurfing when I was 10 years old, in Algeria where I’ve spent 5 years. I never “quit” since then. Back in France, 120% addicted to this sport, I quit school to live my passion and work in a shop … a windsurf shop ! This ubiquitous passion will bring me from Normandy to Lyon, Marseille and then Grenoble where I have worked as a freelance journalist for a specialized magazine, Wind. 2 years and a few trips later, an initiatory “trip” of one year in Hawaii brought me to then to the Island of Sal, Cabo Verde, where I have spent 2 years as windsurfing school manager & instructor.
After a return to Hyères as area sales manager for a windsurf equipment company, I met Marc Laforge, the initiator of the “Ventilo Show” exhibition. He will regularly recruit me during 3 years to organize this important “windsurf festival” open to the public in Hyères. Under the charm of Six-Fours_”Brutal Beach” where I then have decided to install myself 2 years later, I now aspire to other projects and have to use my experience to gain more autonomy, by creating my own company…”

Today, OPEN OCEAN MEDIA is born and is looking towards the ocean by being specialized into event organization and communication, in the natural water sports area.

A wave windsurfing contest on invitation to the care of the young French wave riders with the target to discover young talents, in local areas and in the country, and to promote the French waveriding.

2006 to 2009 – « VENTILO SHOW » / HYERES, FRANCE
An event for the general public entirely dedicated to windsurfing : discovery, initiation, amateurs challenges, semi-professional competition, test sessions with the biggest manufacturers, 20 exhibitors and more than 8000 persons on 8 days each year.

MARCH 2009 – « FUERTEVENTURA WAVE CLASSIC » / CANARY ISLANDS
A world wide wave competition on invitation with the participation of the world’s best professional waveriders.

SEPTEMBER 2009 – « REUNION WAVE CLASSIC » / REUNION ISLAND
A world wide wave competition on invitation with the participation of the world’s best professional waveriders.

NOVEMBER 2009 – « NATIONAL FUNBOARD EXPRESSION » /SIX FOURS, FRANCE
A national Freestyle/wave competition on 5 days, open to all sailors.
Mission : Communication manager/Webmaster
