TEAMRIDERS
“CHARGERS” WANTED!
Limited to about a dozen of professional riders, all of them are welcomed on each stage by the best local riders who perfectly know their spots, island, country or local area. Invited by concept initiators Thomas Traversa & JB Caste, all we ask these sailors is “to have balls” and no fear when time has come to charge big sets!
Here are a few comments from the initiators themselves (Thomas to come soon…) and from some famous international pro riders who already took part to the first Wave Classics in 2009…

“Wave Classic Tour is born in Fuerteventura in 2009. It was an idea of Thomas and me to bring all of our friends pro riders to some perfect spots. We got luck in Fuerte, conditions were really radical and the contest was much appreciated by the public and the riders. Then we went to La RĂ©union and we got one more time sick conditions in paradise!!! I think in the future, we have to keep on working this way and keep organizing sick contests! One thing who touched me in la Reunion, is that a local rider can be team mate with a big name like Victor or Scott. This is really important in our sport, showing that everybody can help each other and talk with everybody !!! Locals were very proud and happy to join this team concept…”

” The wave classic provides a platform for the world’s best windsurfers to showcase their skills and push the limits of the sport to new boundaries, the wave classic set up allows them to travel to the best windsurfing destinations around the world and compete in a unique team format. ”

« I like a lot the format of this wave contest which is more a trip than a competition for me. These wave contest are a very good chance to know a new place and sail on some of the best waves in the world. I´ve already done a few contest with this format of judging each other. I find it very interesting cause we judge each other in very good conditions. »
BOUJMAA GUILLOUL
24 y.o – MOROCCO / Essaouira
12° overall PWA Wave in 2008 – Fuerteventura Wave Classic’s Winner with his team…
« I think that this format is the second of a kind. I really loved a lot the first “windsurfing challenge” in Madagascar or in Morocco, and I think that the Wave Classics are also funny with the teams concept, knowing that there is no pressure and that it is friendly. Furthermore, as I am not really a competitive guy, I join these contest for the fun of it! »
KLAAS VOGET

4° overall PWA Wave in 2009 – « Best Move » Winner on La Reunion Wave Classic…
« I like the challenge of sailing on the best waves our planet offers with some good friends and show how amazing and beautiful windsurfing can be. The images we’ve had for Reunion Wave Classic were spread all over the media. I think that pictures like this can push the image of our sport. »
JULIEN “WESH” TABOULET

12° PWA Wave Overall in 2008 – 2009 RWC winner with his team
“What better way to promote windsurfing? In one year, the concept Wave Invitational Classic has grown incredibly both through the media and within the sport, by launching its events on the best spots of the planet. Coveted by top Waveriders and the hottest locals, these contests are a true gold mine for the spirit and image of windsurfing, thanks to the originality of the” team concept ” and where division and radicality are united in the biggest waves of our oceans! “
SCOTT Mc KERCHER
38 y.o – AUSTRALIA / Perth
Wave World Champion in 2004…
« I like the concept because it’s taking me to some places that I’ve never been before and where there are some waves I’ve been meaning to tick off my (Bucket) list. Competition has always been a great justification for travel. I like everyone that is involved with this so it is great to catch up and sail with a bunch of guys who are pushing it in the water. »
ALEX MUSSOLINI
24 y.o – SPAIN / Tenerife
9° overall in 2009 – « Worst Wipe Out » Winner on La Reunion Wave Classic…
« It’s always good to join a trip with sick sailors on the best spots in the world, I have always dreamed of some trip like this. Concept is great because all of us can just go for it. During the World Tour, you always try to sail easy and safe but when you sail for your team, then it’s easier and much more fun. »
